On August 8th, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the CREW Denver Careers Program will be partnering with the Girl Scouts of America to provide information on Real Estate careers to high school-aged girls.

CREW Denver’s 2012 CREW Careers event will focus this year on an office building located downtown with shell space available for lease. The site and time for this program will be held at 621 17th St. on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 from 10am to 3pm. This building is located off 17th St. and between California and Welton. CREW Denver’s Career Outreach Committee plans to teach the girls what it takes to turn a shell space into a tenant-occupied space. The girls will tour the shell space; take a walking tour of the surrounding neighborhood to learn about residential, office, retail, restaurant and hotel space close-by; and learn about transportation available to the subject space, including light rail and the free 16th Street Mall shuttle. CREW Denver members will participate by sharing with the girls their career involvement in turning a shell space into a leased and occupied space: broker, architect, contractor, interior designer, banker, attorney, etc. The girls will have plenty of opportunity to ask questions to learn more about different career paths in commercial real estate.

Schedule

10:00 am Greetings, program and volunteer introductions by CREW Denver President and CREW Denver Career Outreach Committee Co-Chairs

10:30 am Walking tour of shell space and 3 block area downtown neighboring subject building

11:15 am Return to office, break into groups, review Student Materials, brainstorm

12:00 noon Lunch provided by Sandwich Board

1:00 pm Industry Experts (CREW Denver members) meet with students to discuss: brokering the space, reviewing a lease, designing the space, reviewing engineering specifics (HVAC, demolition, electrical), financing, etc.

1:30 pm Students prepare their presentation – what would they do with the space?

2:30 pm Student teams present their ideas for the space

3:00 pm Program Conclusion – distribute Goodie Bags with items donated by CREW Denver members
